The Healing Power of Intentional Stillness and Sound

The world has gotten very loud lately. We have the new-normal, everyday-loud of social media, the news, and culture at large—each sending various energies our way. But it seems that lately, things have been a bit louder, a bit more on edge, a bit more uncomfortable.

We are being pushed to our edge—both as a collective society and personally. The push might come through drastic and severe events that rock our entire world, or through the tiniest of continuous nudges, quietly aiming to get our attention, urging us to notice… and maybe even to find a different way.

As we travel through these cyclical energetic patterns, we may see familiar topics we thought we had healed rounding the corner again—or feel as though we’re in the same circumstances we’ve previously lived through. Yet if we really examine the details—or better yet, feel into the energy—we’ll often sense the difference. And that difference can feel profound.

As this energy swirls around you, it becomes imperative to take time for silence. Even just a few minutes each day can help you reconnect—time to sit quietly, feel into your body, listen with your heart, and hear your soul.

Many of us are uncomfortable in the silence. We may worry that the demons which have long plagued us (and they are louder now) will resurface—or that every past deed gone wrong will rise up to remind us of the truth: that we are human, doing the best we can with what we have in each moment.

We may feel empty, as though we are barely held together right now—or the opposite: so full and overwhelmed by others’ demands that we’ve forgotten how to be still. The strife of the collective may be creating a sense of separation, judgment, and lack.

In the silence, we can reclaim the space our hearts need to breathe—to re-calibrate and absorb the new, positive energies that are all around us. In the silence, we allow God to permeate our soul and help us navigate whatever challenges may be arising. In the silence, we return to the breath—the one constant we carry throughout this lifetime—and access the wisdom found in its rhythm of contraction and expansion.

Silence brings definition to the vibrations of the Universe. In working with vibrational therapy, there is always a period of silence for integration—an essential moment that completes the medicine.

The Four Essential Pillars of Sound Healing

According to Jonathan Goldman’s work in Sound Medicine, there are four essential pillars to Sound Healing:

1. Everything is vibration
Everything—no matter how still it may seem—vibrates.

2. Intent is powerful
   Frequency + Intent = Healing

3. Everyone has a unique resonance
In other words, not everyone will respond the same way to a given sound or frequency. The way our bodies vibrate and attune to frequency is deeply personal.

4. Silence is Golden
Silence is the Yin to the Yang of sound. It allows the sound to fully integrate into your unique vibration—to re-calibrate the healing your mind, body, and soul crave.

So, in the busyness of the day, remember to take a pause before answering. Take a breath before speaking. Check in with your body and your heart. Lean into the silence… and know that no matter what you are going through:

You are seen.
You are loved.
And…..
You are okay in this now moment.

Much love to you.
